Mount Laurel, NJ - The winning tradition continues as J.S. Hovnanian & Sons recently took home the Commitment to Excellence Award at the 2011 MAME Awards. This is the seventh time the company has been recognized in this category since the award’s inception in 1996, honoring their success in the development of various communities throughout the South Jersey region.
The MAME (Major Achievement in Marketing Excellence) Awards, presented by the Builders League of South Jersey (BLSJ), recognizes leaders within the industry dedicated to providing cutting-edge solutions in the development of quality housing communities throughout the area.
The Commitment to Excellence Award specifically honors those local builders who not only exhibit outstanding customer service, but also a continued dedication to building high quality homes. Recipients are selected by new homebuyers who closed on a BLSJ builder member’s home during the current year, and provided feedback on their overall experience.
“This award is a tremendous honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of J.S. Hovnanian & Sons to provide their customers a quality home,” shares Rick Van Osten, Executive Vice President of the Builders League of South Jersey.
“This award is based on surveys hundreds of buyers, and once again our buyers have spoken,” said Stephen Hovnanian, principal of J.S. Hovnanian & Sons. “No other builder in the 17-year history of the award has received this honor as many times as we have, and that is something we are extremely proud of.”
For over 45 years, J.S. Hovnanian & Sons has maintained a tradition of building excellence, providing the best quality construction and customer service for its homeowners. Even during the most recent housing downturn, the company is proud to have won the Commitment to Excellence Award during four of the five worst selling years experienced in the housing industry.
“We’ve always emphasized the fact that who builds your home should matter,” said Peter Hovnanian, principal of J.S. Hovnanian & Sons. “We have never once compromised our integrity, dedication to customer service or the quality of our homes – and we will continue that tradition for years to come.”

J.S. Hovnanian & Sons Celebrates Opening of New Rancocas Creek Trail
Date: 2010-07-15
Burlington County Freeholders Hold Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony To Mark Occasion
Mt. Laurel, NJ – Recently, Burlington County Freeholders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new trail along the Rancocas Creek. This celebration marked the forward movement in the county’s plan to create an interconnecting network of trails along the Rancocas Greenway.
Plans for this project include the development of a completely new hiking and biking trail, a half-mile stone path behind the J.S. Hovnanian & Sons’ Rancocas Pointe development at Centerton and Creek Roads in Mount Laurel. The trail spans a total of 25 miles, eventually connecting with the County’s other popular creekfront park sites, such as Boundary Creek Park 1.4 miles away.
Stephen and Peter Hovnanian, principals of local Mt. Laurel homebuilder J.S. Hovnanian & Sons, joined the Freeholders and Mount Laurel Mayor James Keenan in marking this special occasion. J.S. Hovnanian & Sons is not only the developer of the neighboring Rancocas Pointe community along the Creek, but also donated a 22-acre parcel used to create the trail spearheaded by founder Jirar S. Hovnanian.
“Standing here we realize, although part of a neighborhood, you’re being embraced by nature. There is a quality of life here that is very unique and we are proud to be part of it,” said Peter Hovnanian.
The completed project work included trail clearing, development of stone dust pathways, construction of a boardwalk, and the strategic location planning of benches. The trail construction is unique in that it is the first County park development project funded entirely with State Green Acres dollars. Some 25% of those funds come in the form of a grant, and the remaining 75% a low-interest loan. Altogether, it took three months of work to complete, with the total costs amounting to $267,000.
